General Information
Meetings
Meetings are usually held at the new Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Meetings will be canceled if the Chapel Hill Schools are closed due to bad weather. Listen to WCHL Radio (91.5 FM) or call a board member if in doubt.
Board Meetings
Board meetings are held each month September through May at the Seymour Center. This year meetings will generally be held on the first Thursday of the month. Check your newsletter or contact a board member to find out the date and location of the meeting if you wish to attend.
Community Outreach
Triangle Weavers makes a special effort to take fiber arts into the community. Exhibits and demonstrations have been held at the Chapel Hill Museum, McDougle School Library, Duke Hospital, Girl Scout troops and camps, Bennett Place, Carolina FiberFest and Charles House. There have also been classroom presentations at various local schools. For two years we have taught a weaving class at Emerson Waldorf School.
Community Outreach gives members a chance to exhibit and demonstrate their craft while letting the public see the rewards of working with fibers. Members are encouraged to take part in this rewarding activity.
Triangle Weavers has successfully offered beginning weaving classes to non-members, most of whom have become members.
Community Art Awareness "Go/See"
In order to provide more community art awareness, the newsletter features upcoming exhibits of weaving and some soft art in the Triangle area. Soft art encompasses a broader field that includes weaving. Weaving shows as such are not as plentiful.
Drop-ins
Groups of members meet between regular meetings to share ideas, ask questions, work on projects, and take field trips. This is a time for getting to know fellow members better as well as seeing their equipment and work space.
Library
The Triangle Weavers Lending Library is located at the Seymour Center and is open before and during the general meetings.
Suggestions for new books are always welcome. Please contact the librarian with recommendations ( provide author’s name, title, and reasons for your suggesstion) any questions or special requests.
Newsletter
Triangle Weavers Newsletter is distributed in the months of September, October, November, January, February, March, April and May.
