Split-ply braiding

Presenter:  Marie Kulchinski

Marie will share her study of split-ply braiding. This ancient technique, popularized in modern times by Peter Collingwood, involves splitting the ply of (usually 4-ply) yarns and braiding it into complex designs that can be functional as in their early use as camel girths and similar bands in India or beautiful and elaborate three-dimensional structures with elaborate patterns that take design with yarn to new and exciting heights.
