The Triangle Fiber Arts Center The Triangle Weavers Guild established the Triangle Fiber Arts Center (TFAC) in 2015 within the Murphey School at 3717 Murphy School Road, Durham. The Guild’s mission is to further interest in the fiber arts, and TFAC expands the ways in which we can accomplish this. The space hosts study groups, classes on many topics for every skill level, workshops, events, and our extensive reference library. Looms and equipment for classes and workshops or for rental use are housed here. There are also occasional informal weaving opportunities to sample structure, color interactions, and fibers.n |
In addition to the above activities, TFAC is open to all members and guests on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 until 4:00 pm for drop-in times (with occasional exceptions made for other scheduled events.) With a member host for each session, visitors are encouraged to come by to make use of the library, view yarn sample cards, learn Fiberworks/PCW on the computer, and interact with other fiber enthusiasts by bringing questions, projects, or show and tell.
NOTE: We will continue to hold our Monthly Meetings at the Seymour Center.

TFAC Activities
There are 4 types of activities that take place at TFAC.
|
Drop-Ins
These are gatherings where members meet to discuss any fiber topic, share show and tell, ask questions, critique work, etc. There will be a designated member present at each of the drop-ins, and anyone is welcome to come during scheduled drop-ins. Study Groups These are self-directed groups organized around common interests. Members of specific study groups should schedule meeting times with the TFAC Coordinator. Special TFAC Studio Projects More formal scheduled times for guild members to weave, study, meet and talk weaving, mentored by a weaver from the guild. Depending on the topic there could be a nominal fee or a materials fee. Details for these are posted on the Guild Calendar and the TFAC Events page. Classes and Workshops Workshops often led by a nationally known person and classes often led by a guild member. These can be of varying length and will have a fee. Details for these are posted on the guild’s Classes & Workshops page. |

A new guild home
"A beautifully restored old schoolhouse set among rural green pastures is once again a home for education and learning, but this time the subject is fiber arts. The Triangle Weavers Guild opened the door to the area’s new Triangle Fiber Arts Center (TFAC) in Durham, North Carolina. The Triangle Weavers Guild held an open house earlier this year and already has placed TFAC on the map as a place to learn about all things fiber, with many study groups and classes, including one on garment construction with Daryl Lancaster and a tapestry class by Anita Wolfenden. Special children’s fiber activities are planned for later this year. The Triangle Weavers Guild envisions the new TFAC as a place to offer even more weaving and fiber-related classes, seminars, and workshops to inspire the creativity of guild members and to serve as a home where knowledge and skills can be shared with the community. To learn more about the guild and the TFAC, visit www.triangleweavers.org." |
