About the artist:
Leslie Killeen was a long-time member of the Triangle Weavers Guild. Among other things she wove and sewed many creative and colorful vests, sometimes designing her own pattern and adding innovative fastenings and embellishments. Leslie began weaving in the mid 70's. She was self-taught having taken numerous workshops and seminars, completing the Boston Weavers' Guild Apprentice and Journeyman ratings. Both her biology/botany educational background and her daily computer usage in her work found applications in her weaving. Her primary loom was an eight shaft computer aided loom, using the number of shafts as a challenge to create complex looking cloth. Leslie was a member of the Boston Weavers Guild, MA, Triangle Weavers, Inc. NC, Complex Weavers, and Cross Country Weavers. She had numerous articles published in the Complex Weavers Journal and Handwoven magazine among others. You can see more about her work, seminars and shows she participated in at her website https://warpandbytedesigns.com/ Leslie passed away unexpectedly in July 2024. Her husband, Ken, has generously offered to make the full collection of Leslie’s vests available to TWG for display from February 23 through the end of March. |
