Photographer Vicki Russell has done put together a short photo/video essay of guild member Sally Kahler at work in her studio. Sally says " Last Friday a friend who has developed a passion for photography came to photograph me weaving. She thought the looms would be good subject matter. It was fun. I have been weaving off and on for 43 years. It is always hard to share this hobby of mine with anyone who doesn’t weave because others really don’t understand the how and why. So here it is. It has been fun to share with family. Thought my weaving friends would like to see it too. It’s short! "

Guild member Marcy Congdon’s work is being featured in the “Artist of the Month” show at Carol Woods in Chapel Hill. The show will be open to the public until March 9, 2018, and is opposite the large lounge in the main building, in a hall way across from the library (visitors can ask at the desk). Marcy is starting to teach some CW residents to weave and led an active group in Maine.
The black and white shawl is woven from alpaca that Marcy spun herself, from animals a friend had on the island of Islesboro where Marcy lived in Maine.
