If you haven't been to the Triangle Fiber Arts Center in a while there's more to see and do all the time. We have a large warping mill, five warping stations, oodles of yarn, lots of books, magazines, a Dorset loom for rental and more classes being planned.

Come by TFAC and weave !
The 4 shaft Harrisville has been set up for a small twill gamp, threaded for blocks of straight twill, broken twill, Rosepath and Bird’s eye. The sample was woven using a straight twill treadling but there are so many other possibilities!
Try treadling tromp as writ ("Tromp as writ means to “treadle as written,” and the assumption is that the “written” part is the threading draft. ... Then, you use the treadle with the number that corresponds to the shaft number in the threading” - from Ask Madelyn) or any number of treadling combinations.
An example of an extended 4 shaft twill gamp is in the classroom - a sample woven by an early member of the guild which was threaded in eleven different configurations and woven using fourteen different treadling sequences - 154 different blocks
Please be sure to weave about an inch at the end of your sample so there will be room to cut and zigzag and place a tag with your name on the side of your work. Make notes of what you are weaving as you change the treadling and take that with you to go with the sample when it is returned to you.
Enjoy! And let us know if you have suggestions for the next Come and Weave structure !
